Suggestions on how to debate in committee + office hours

Hi delegates! As conference is quickly approaching, I wanted to briefly touch upon some suggestions for debating in committee, in addition to encouraging you all to sign up for office hours.

Firstly, I want to emphasize the importance of diplomacy in our committee! Although there are clear party lines, it is nonetheless important to engage in respectful dialogue throughout our committee.

Secondly, come to debate well-researched! Everyone is going to have their own method of participating in committee, whether it be that your strong suit is writing resolutions or giving speeches. Regardless of your preferred role in committee, what will make you stand out is your knowledge on the topics, so I recommend re-reading the topic synopsis and conducting additional research on them prior to joining debate.

Lastly, and most importantly, come ready to have fun! Above all else you are attending this conference to learn and enjoy yourself.
